Tea Tales Around the World
kits for children of all ages
Our world is colorful, interesting and very diverse, and for many, the opportunity to see much of it might be very difficult or none existent. Many children will grow up without the benefits of travel or the ability to know other cultures and traditions.
We wish to expand the minds of our youth, to open their eyes to the way people exist in other cultures and to bring these cultures "alive" by way of tea. We feel that our enlightened youth can make greater impacts on the future of the world. Our program is fun, educational, interesting and healthy.
Mission: to enlighten children to the cultures and traditions of other countries by way of tea. While incorporating manners, art, music, language, history and geography, we engage and open the minds of our youth.
Implementation:
Offering a one hour session discussing the following highlights of one country:
(choose from option of 8 countries - 3 levels)
Language - how do you say; hello, please,thank you, you are welcome, good bye
Geography - showing a map of the country and some demographics
History - a brief discussion about the history of tea in the country
Manners - engage the children to pass the cookies, pour and sip the tea, how to sit and behave, while discussing the type of philosophy associated with tea in that country
Music - playing background music that is indigenous to that country
Art - making a craft that is associated to that country

-allow children to "travel"briefly to another country
-to playfully interact and learn a custom different from their own
-to open the minds of children, allow them to "enjoy the moment" and experience the global traditions of tea
